AHIP elects 5 new members to board of directors
America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) announced that five new members have been elected to the AHIP Board of Directors:
• John Baackes, CEO of L.A. Care Health Plan
• Thomas A. Croswell, CLU, President and CEO of Tufts Health Plan
• J.D. Hickey, M.D., CEO of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee
• Pamela Morris, President and CEO of CareSource
• Michael F. Neidorff, Chairman, President and CEO of Centene Corp.
“These leaders have proven records of delivering real solutions that serve consumers and improve health care,” said Marilyn Tavenner, AHIP President and CEO. “They are committed to delivering greater value, finding new ways to deliver better care, and working collaboratively across the industry to deliver results. I look forward to working with them as we continue to drive changes that will improve affordability and quality.”
New members join other colleagues currently serving on AHIP’s board, who are listed here.
The AHIP Board will be led by Joseph R. Swedish, Chairman, President and CEO of Anthem Inc., who was elected to serve as Chair in 2017, as previously announced. Swedish succeeds Mark B. Ganz, CEO of Cambia Health Solutions in this role. Bernard J. Tyson, Chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente, will serve as Chair for 2018.

He has led on critical issues and improvements that directly help consumers, from delivering greater value to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries, to improving how we pay for care, and working across the industry to control rising costs for prescription drugs,” Tavenner said. “We look forward to continuing to build on this work with our new and existing Board members, as we continue to advocate for the health insurance community and the consumers they serve.”
