Lancaster General Health launches self-insurance option

The largest health system in Pennsylvania’s Lancaster County is jumping into part of the health insurance market.

Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine launched Eliance Health Solutions to provide services to self-insured companies that formerly would have been handled by third-party administrators.

“We are not providing insurance,” said system spokeswoman Rosanne Placey. “We are creating and administering self-funded health plans.”
