Meltzer Group acquires Virginia’s Coury Group
The Meltzer Group, a Bethesda, Md.-based life insurance and employee benefits agency, has acquired The Coury Group, a Reston, Va.-based employee benefits firm that specializes in serving government contractors.
The Meltzer group was founded in 1992 by Alan Meltzer, and is now a unit of NFP, with is based in New York.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
According to a statement, The Coury Group takes a consultative approach to employee benefit plans and implementation, focusing on large groups.
The acquisition expands cross-selling opportunities in retirement and property & casualty insurance, the statement said.
Joseph Jude (“JJ”) Coury and Terra Coury Bechara, principals of The Coury Group, will continue to operate the company as they have in the past, but they now have the additional national resources of NFP as well as the regional resources from The Meltzer Group to serve their clients, the statement said.
